A Promise youth who had never worked before enrolled at age 15. He had significant behavioral problems and was very withdrawn and difficult to reach. Promise helped him get a summer work experience and then a permanent part time job. Promise also coordinated counseling, and the youth reported that the recommended counselor was the first counselor he has felt connected to. His behavioral problems are almost gone, and his Mom reports that he is much happier at home and is doing very well at his job.
This youth is interested in hip hop/rap and poetry, so his Promise counselor recommended he do a spoken word event for youth in his town. He plans to do this and is very excited about it. Promise will also be getting a savings account set up for him soon, so he can start saving to meet his goals!
